- Establishing a long-term vision for the district
- Establishing and maintaining a basic organizational structure for the district, including employment of the Superintendent and adoption of policies, curriculum, the budget and the collective bargaining agreement
- Ensuring accountability to the local community, including personnel, programmatic and fiscal accountability and service as a judicial and appeals body as needed
- Providing community leadership and advocacy at the local, state and national levels on behalf of children, district programs and public education
Members of the community are an integral part of the foresight of our district's educators. The public is encouraged to participate locally by attending School Board meetings. School Board meeting are held on the 2nd Wednesday * of each month, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Board. The meetings alternate each month between Mojave ( odd months ) and California City ( even months ). The Mojave meetings are held at the District Office (formerly Joshua Middle School), and the California City meetings are held at Hacienda Elementary School, unless otherwise agreed to by the Board.
* Beginning with its January 11, 2023, regular Board meeting, the Mojave Unified School District will return to an in-person meeting format. Members of the public wishing to observe the meeting or, comment on matters within the Board’s jurisdiction, will need to attend the meeting in person to do so. The agenda will state the time, date and location of the meeting.
