Frequently Asked Questions

To enroll students in the Boys & Girls Club after school portion of ELOP, please use the link here. Or visit https://www.avbgc.org/ for more details.

Permission slips for upcoming trips are available in your student's school front office! A new permission slip is required for each ELOP field trip a student wishes to attend.

Just about! All ELOP events are open to all ages and grades, guardians are always encouraged to attend with their student(s). ELOP field trips are typically open to all tk-8th grade students. In some cases, trips are only open to certain grades. Permission slips will state the grade range eligible to participate if so. Reach out to anyone on the ELOP team, or your student's school front office, to confirm whether a trip is only open to certain grade levels.

To travel with your student on the bus and/or to be a chaperone for field trips, you must complete the process to become a board approved volunteer. This includes a TB test and background check, both of which you can be reimbursed for. Ask your student's front office for the paperwork to begin the process. We look forward to you joining us!

You are more than welcome to use your own transportation to meet us at field trip sites! Students can be released early to guardians or previously approved emergency contacts. This includes emergency contacts listed on the permission slip provided for your student(s).

To provide consistency for participants, California City pick-ups and drop-offs will be centralized to Hacienda Elementary School. Mojave pick-ups and drop-offs will take place at Mojave Elementary school.

Lunch is provided to students on field trips. However, we do encourage students to bring a refillable water bottle and a snack in case they get hungry before lunch time. Depending on the weather, your student may need a jacket or hat. Backpacks and notebooks are not required, but they are welcome to bring them in case they would like to take notes or sketch anything they see!

Participation is ZERO cost for all students! The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) provides funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade at no cost to participants.
