Good afternoon,
I hope this message finds you well. I am eager to send out this message, as I know everyone has been waiting.
As I am sure you are all aware, there was a significant change in guidance and mandates for masks in California. The changes that took effect will have an impact on K-12 beginning when we return from Spring Break. Essentially, the requirement for wearing a mask indoors will expire at midnight on March 11, 2022. This means that starting Saturday, March 12,2022 masks will be recommended indoors but not mandatory. This is applicable for both students and adults in all settings including K-12.
I know that for some this is fantastic news, and for others it is not. Please remember that everyone has a different level of comfort and may still wish to wear a mask. I am asking that everyone make their own choice and let others do the same. This is an emotional issue for everyone and everyone is in a different circumstance. Our staff will be making it clear that it is a choice everyone has to continue or discontinue wearing a mask. We will be watching for any students that are being singled out for either choice. We will always follow the mandates and give people choices as long as we are able, especially when it comes to personal health. If and when things change, we will get the information out to everyone. Anyone who has any questions about the change should speak with the site administration or call the district office.
There has been no change to vaccination and testing protocols. This means, any employee who is not fully vaccinated will still need to test weekly. There has also been no change in the tracing and isolation/quarantine protocols. If anyone has any symptoms of illness that are not cleared by a doctor they will be asked to stay home. I know that sometimes the symptoms are due to allergies or a different ailment like asthma, but please understand that the protocols are mandated and as stated above, we will continue to follow all mandates. If symptoms are due to something that is not considered contagious, but is ongoing, a doctor’s note will still be required to return to school.
If there are any questions about this information please call your school site or the district office for clarification. We truly appreciate everyone’s cooperation over the last year and are looking forward to our return on March 23.
I hope that this spring break is a relaxing and safe time for everyone.
Sincerely,
Dr. Katherine Aguirre, Superintendent

Good afternoon,
It has once again come to our attention that there is social media post that has caused concern and questions about the added security at the high school. The post states that there was a communication in a classroom about there being an active shooter on CCHS campus. This is being looked into and if that statement was made, it will be addressed.
There was no active shooter on campus. There was an incident in the community the week prior where two young people exchanged gun fire. This did not happen near the campus. There was no “drive by” at the school. We have had some issues on campus with students arguing over the incident in the community and choosing sides with one or the other of the young people involved. These arguments were mediated but feelings are still strong on the topic. We were concerned about the arguments escalating and disrupting classes. We made the decision to add security and administrators to the campus to assist with supervision as a precaution. We requested that there be frequent visit to the campus by CCPD and they have been very helpful with supervision during drop off and pick up.
We anticipate that the security will be on campus for several weeks.
If you have a student that attends CCHS and have any additional questions, please call the school or district office.
